Scott is a seasoned litigator who leverages his in-depth knowledge of intellectual property, antitrust, and regulatory law to help domestic and international clients develop and safeguard their businesses. Scott’s counsel is rooted in his former role as a regulator with the Federal Trade Commission and his more than two decades of litigating intellectual property lawsuits in federal courts throughout the country. A registered patent attorney, Scott also regularly partners with companies throughout the lifecycle of their products, and he has specific experience counseling companies pursuing opportunities in Asian markets.

In his litigation practice, Scott represents technology, manufacturing, and professional services companies in a wide range of intellectual property disputes. He litigates and defends matters ranging from patent, trademark, and trade dress disputes to copyright infringement, trade secret, and unfair competition matters. Scott also handles anti-cybersquatting, counterfeiting, and deceptive trade practices cases. His clients range from small start-up companies to Fortune 500 enterprises. Regardless of their size, Scott offers tailored solutions for each client from pre-litigation counseling to litigation alternatives, including post-grant proceedings like inter partes review and ex parte re-examinations.

In addition to his extensive litigation experience, Scott serves as a trusted strategist for clients navigating complex regulatory and government compliance programs. His knowledge as a former regulator enables him to shepherd his clients’ matters through appropriate federal agencies. Clients rely on his insights when dealing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, FTC, the National Advertising Division, and the National Advertising Review Council. He also regularly works with other regulatory and legal experts to support clients pursuing Food and Drug Administration approvals and compliance reporting.
