Paul Sung Cha

Paul leverages nearly two decades of experience as a patent attorney and litigator in his work representing clients in a full range of intellectual property litigation disputes. As a former in-house counsel for CoorsTek, Inc., Paul grounds his counsel in the day-to-day realities his clients face. Paul partners with clients across a range of technologies. Combining his business and legal expertise, Paul helps clients navigate the complex pitfalls of litigation from initial filings and discovery through trial and post-trial motions and appeals. In addition to his extensive experience handling litigation, Paul’s clients rely on his depth of experience in developing trade secret and portfolio protection strategies.

As Global IP Counsel for CoorsTek, Paul was responsible for the implementation and management of global IP portfolio planning and management, including the development and implementation of U.S. and international patent and trademark procurement strategies and trade secret management. He also was responsible for managing the company’s litigation and counseling the company on matters relating to licensing, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint development, and due diligence.

Paul has advised clients in the industries of software and web development, manufacturing, financial markets, outdoor apparel, publishing, digital production, semiconductor, research and development, and eSports in IP-related commercial transactions.

Prior to rejoining Sheridan Ross, where Paul previously was an associate attorney, he also worked as IP Litigation partner and co-chair of the Asian Practice Group at Holme, Roberts and Owen LLP.  He has traveled extensively throughout Asia and served as general counsel to Korean companies.
