Proactively Partnering with High-Profile Brands

For more than two decades, Sheridan Ross has served as the sole intellectual property counsel for one of the world’s leading outdoor clothing and gear companies. Our work largely focuses on the company’s expansive trademark portfolio which includes more than 1,000 marks across multiple jurisdictions, though our work has also included extensive utility and design patent protection related to the company’s top-of-the-line products.

Over the last few years, the firm has played increasingly essential role with the company’s in-house legal department helping to evaluate and asses intellectual property-related as well as software-related contracts across all of its business units. As part of that work, we have helped the company better protect itself in negotiations with third-party manufacturers and service providers it interacts with throughout the normal course of business.

Our firm currently handles all trademark registration and enforcement matters for a portfolio of marks in approximately 80 countries; worldwide management of trademark portfolio; worldwide policing of trademarks and copyrights; worldwide domain name policing and management; trademark clearance. The firm has also handled due diligence as it relates to acquisitions or licensing as well as opposition proceedings with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, where we have successfully petitioned the board to refuse registration of two different opposing parties’ marks on likelihood of confusion grounds. Our trademark professionals also regularly work to recover domain names related to this client’s marks through UDRP proceedings.
