Ken Monington, Ph.D.
Dr. Monington is a registered patent agent with experience in the general areas of electrical engineering, information systems security, applied communication, and geographic information systems. His work focuses all aspects of domestic and foreign patent prosecution from due diligence searches through prosecution and post-grant reviews. Dr. Monington excels at helping clients create and implement comprehensive protection strategies tailored to their particular needs.
His experience includes work on complex electrical and software technologies including telephony, RFID, access control, semiconductors, optics, Artificial Intelligence, communication networks, communication protocols, encryption, web-based technologies, information storage systems, and feedback and control systems. Before joining the law firm, Dr. Monington worked as a systems engineer, software developer, and project manager for Motorola and as a contractor for the federal government. His previous experience includes extensive work on U.S. government communication and information system security, including orchestrating compliance activities and risk and vulnerability assessments.
Dr. Monington received obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware, where he also earned a master’s and bachelor’s of Electrical Engineering. Dr. Monington also holds graduate certificates in Information Systems Security, Applied Communication, and Geographic Information Systems from the University of Denver, where he also received his law degree. He is a licensed Professional Engineer with the state of Colorado, and he also holds FCC General Radiotelephone Operator license, GMDSS Radio Maintainer’s license, and the Ship Radar Endorsement. Dr. Monington is also certified in computer and network security, including CISSP and CompTIA Security+.
