Scott's practice focuses on patent applications and prosecution of computer hardware and software, electronics and business methods.
As a registered patent attorney with over fifteen years of experience in patent law, Scott has successfully prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications. His clients benefit from his technical and business background and entrepreneurial spirit with various high-tech enterprises and even securing patents for his own inventions. Scott’s clients rely on his ability to develop and execute an IP strategy that fits their business objectives as well as their budgets.
Prior to joining Sheridan Ross, Scott was a senior patent attorney at Broadcom, Inc., then known as Avago Technologies, Inc., a multinational electronic component and device manufacturer. At Broadcom, Scott was responsible for managing thousands of patents, training in-house patent professionals, overseeing outside patent counsel, due diligence analysis, supporting litigation activities, and developing patent processes. Scott developed and oversaw processes governing the entire patent life cycle from innovation through post-allowance and maintenance fee review. Prior to Broadcom, Scott prepared and prosecuted patent applications in the computing, networking, electrical, software, and consumer technologies.
Prior to his career in law, Scott served as a software engineer and software development project manager where he developed software applications for a diverse range of applications.
