Dr. Stern is a patent agent with technical expertise in the areas of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, virology, immunology, vaccines, and diagnostic methods and devices.
His practice areas include all aspects of domestic and foreign patent prosecution, due diligence of patent portfolios, valuation of patents and early stage technologies, and strategic management of patent portfolios.
Dr. Stern obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida, Gainesville, where he studied the role of poxvirus proteins in viral morphogenesis and pathogenesis. Following his graduate studies, Dr. Stern was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology, at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO, where he worked on the expression and purification of proteins involved in synthesis of mycobacterial cell wall components. His work also included the development of high-throughput assays for identifying potential inhibitors of mycobacterial cell wall synthesis.
