Patent protection
is an integral part of developing a complete intellectual
property portfolio. Since our establishment in 1954, the Sheridan
Ross Patent Prosecution group has been the keystone of the
firm. Our technically trained patent attorneys and patent
agents work to understand your goals and develop an overall
technology protection strategy. We address all facets of your
intellectual property rights, including patentability analyses;
patent application preparation and prosecution; patent appeals;
inventorship and ownership issues; infringement, invalidity
and freedom to operate opinions; continuing research and development
efforts; trade secret protection; publications; marketing
rights; and product sales. We enable you to make knowledgeable
decisions to develop your intellectual property portfolio
by carefully assessing your opportunities and discussing the
available options with you. Importantly, we are sensitive
to controlling costs and working with you to determine realistic
estimates and budgets.
Our Patent Prosecution group
has extensive experience pursuing patent protection worldwide.
We work with an established network of foreign associates
to secure international patent rights for our clients. We
are well versed in patent prosecution, opposition practice
and appeals in foreign jurisdictions.
The patent attorneys and patent
agents of our Patent Prosecution group are registered to practice
before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and
have degrees in science and technology fields. Several members
of our group hold Masters degrees or Ph.D.'s, and many have
years of experience working in science and technology industries
prior to joining Sheridan Ross. Through our combined experience
in a wide-range of technologies, we cover fields ranging from
chemical, electrical, mechanical, petroleum, and construction
engineering, to biotechnology, chemistry/pharmaceuticals,
biochemistry, mathematics, business methods and computer science.
