Neil Salyards' practice focuses on enforcing international and domestic intellectual property assets with a focus on Trademark, Copyright and Brand protection in a wide range of industries.
His trademark practice includes the prosecution of domestic, and international trademarks under the Madrid Protocol, from clearance and filing to maintenance and large-scale portfolio management. Neil represents clients in trademark disputes before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). He advises clients on copyright protection, registration and enforcement. Neil polices third party use of his client’s protected intellectual property in order to provide infringement risk evaluation and advise on the development of intellectual property protection strategies. Neil drafts cease and desist letters, licensing agreements and conducts portfolio analysis. In addition, Neil has represented clients in U.S. Customs and Border Protection seizures of counterfeit and improperly labeled imported goods.
Neil is also skilled in the field of cyber law, assisting clients in brand protection and enforcement of trademark and copyright protected material on the internet, ranging from domain name registration and protection, to various administrative proceedings including Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown notices and drafting Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP) complaints. Prior to joining Sheridan Ross, Mr. Salyards served as an associate in a Denver based law firm where he practiced trademark and copyright law, as well as corporate transactional law.
