Summary of Practice:
Joe Kovarik is a principal with extensive experience in all areas of intellectual property law, with an emphasis in patent prosecution, patent litigation, mediation of patent disputes and in the licensing of intellectual property rights. He advises both small and large entities, including state universities, with respect to how best to build, maintain and protect their intellectual property assets. Joe has negotiated complex development option agreements, licensing agreements and settlement agreements involving a wide array of technologies, including those encompassed by his technical training in biochemistry and molecular, cellular and developmental biology. For almost twenty years, Joe has been involved in various intellectual property litigations and has training and experience in alternative dispute resolution, and in particular, mediation of intellectual property disputes.

Joe has taught intellectual property law classes to law students at the University of Denver as an adjunct professor. He also served as in-house patent counsel for Advanced Display Technologies in Boulder, Colorado and thus understands, from a first person perspective, the demands and concerns of in-house counsel, especially with respect to how best to achieve goals and objectives in an expeditious and cost effective manner.
